Outsourcing IT Services Makes Good Business Sense – Here’s Why

There’s never been a better time to outsource your IT support. The latest report from Whitelane Research reported a nearly 90% satisfaction rate with IT outsourcing contracts across Europe, and a large proportion planning to increase their outsourcing for 2016. We take a look at the reasons why and outline four key benefits that IT outsourcing could deliver for your business.

    Outsourced IT services

    1. It’s more cost efficient

Generally speaking, outsourcing saves you money. For the majority of respondents in Whitelane’s report this was the primary driver for increasing the level of their outsourcing in 2016.

With average salaries for IT managers in the UK ranging between £30,000-50,000+ per annum, not to mention associated recruitment and training costs, it’s easy to see why an in-house specialist is a luxury that many smaller businesses can’t afford.

Outsourced IT service providers offer the same high level of expertise but at a greatly reduced price thanks to their economies of scale.

    2. It gives you peace of mind

For most directors, the thing that holds them back from outsourcing their IT support is a fear of giving up control. But time is precious, and yours should be spent concentrating on your core business activities, not worrying over and sorting out IT issues.

With an IT support provider that works in genuine partnership with you it’s entirely possible to retain strategic control, while outsourcing those processes that require specialist expertise or infrastructure, or are simply too time-consuming to be a valuable use of your team’s time.

And, furthermore, by outsourcing complex or critical processes you can rest assured that you are in fact prioritising them, by handing over responsibility to fully accredited and experienced specialists.

    3. Outsourcing frees up your resources

It’s neither practical, nor possible to be a jack of all trades. Outsourcing lets you concentrate on your core business competencies, while your IT support provider concentrates on theirs.

With time freed up from IT support, you can concentrate your efforts on what matters: supporting your core business and developing your competitive advantage – not troubleshooting software issues, or wasting time trying to solve complex problems outside of your expertise.

    4. It gives you access to the latest technology and systems

The IT landscape is constantly changing and technology is transforming at a rapid pace. The odds are that you don’t have time to examine every new product, application or software innovation that may be of benefit your business.

But a dedicated IT support provider will have advanced intelligence on the latest technological advances and will have a range of partnerships and licenses with technology providers – giving them access to resources you may otherwise have no access to (or even be aware of!)

And also, by using an outsourced provider you are able to tap into their collective experience of working with different customers in a variety of industries, giving you access to a wide range of IT sub-specialisms.

Outsourcing can of course be an interim solution or part of a longer term partnership. But whatever way you choose to work with them, third party providers can be an invaluable asset to your business.
